Abstract
In this talk, I will discuss the role of sophisticated linguistic analysis for research in Psycholinguistics. Drawing on experimental results from Italian, Greek, English, French, Spanish and European Portuguese I will show how grammatical distinction which appear subtle at first sight can be used to provide a unified analysis of a number of problematic data from the psycholinguistics literature.

Mini-Bio
Nino Grillo is a Senior Lecturer in Linguistics and PI of the Sentence Processing Lab at the University of York. Prior to joining the University of York, he received a joint PhD from the Utrecht institute of Linguistics OTS and the University of Siena and worked at Humboldt Universität zu Berlin, Universität Stuttgart, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas and McGill University. His research focuses on the division of labour between language specific and cognitive general mechanisms in the processing and representation of syntax, semantics, and, more recently, prosody.
